A Storm at Avalon

These photos were taken of a winter storm, known as a Northeaster, at Avalon

When I was a kid. I think this storm occurred around 1956, four years before the first

Breakwater was built on Casino Point. Later, a second jetty was built on the south side of Avalon Bay, which eliminated the threat of such winter storms. My mother was the

First Female lifeguard on the island, and the beach where the photos of the wreckage

is her beach, known as South Beach.
